Solar Power Storage

Solar panel systems have become one of the fastest-growing sources of energy in the United States. According to the Solar Energy Industries Association, the solar market doubled in size in 2016. The popularity of solar power has led to the rise of another renewable technology: solar batteries that can store extra solar power for later use. Companies are developing batteries that can be installed with solar panels to create “solar-plus-storage” systems for your home. To appreciate why you might choose to install a solar-plus-storage system for your home, you first need to understand how a standard home solar PV system functions. The typical solar energy system includes solar panels, an inverter, equipment to mount the panels on your roof, and a performance monitoring system that tracks electricity production. The solar panels collect energy from the sun and turn it into electricity, which is passed through the inverter and converted into a form that you can use to power your home. The vast majority of residential solar energy systems are connected to the electricity grid (or “grid-tied”). When your panels are producing more electricity than your home needs, the excess is fed back into the power grid. Conversely, when your home needs more electricity than your solar panels are producing, you can draw power from the electric grid. In most cases, you receive a credit on your utility bill for the electricity you send back to the grid. Later, when you are using more electricity than your solar panels have generated, you can use those credits instead of having to pay more to your utility. This process is known as net metering.

It is, therefore, one method to reduce human greenhouse gas emissions. For example, if a house is insulated, less energy is used for heating and cooling to achieve a satisfactory temperature. Another example is installing fluorescent lights or skylights, instead of incandescent lights, to attain the same level of illumination. Efficient energy use is achieved primarily by means of a more efficient technology or process. Energy efficient buildings, industrial processes, and transportation could reduce the world's energy needs in 2050 by one third, and help control global emissions of greenhouse gases. Making homes, vehicles, and businesses more energy efficient is seen as a largely untapped solution to addressing global warming, energy security, and fossil fuel depletion. The 1973 oil crisis, where oil prices were very high, focused attention on energy efficiency. For example, the state of California began implementing energy-efficiency laws in the mid-1970s, including building code and appliance standards with strict efficiency requirements. During the following years, California 's energy consumption has remained constant.

Solar Power System Lowers and Even Eliminates Your Electricity Bills When you go solar, you get more control of your monthly electricity costs. You’ll know what to expect including the amount of electricity your system will deliver. And, the longer you own your solar power system saves money and planetsolar power system the bigger the savings will be. Solar power systems help convert sunlight into electricity to power. This would not be possible without the use of solar panels. Panels collect sunlight using photovoltaic cells and transfer the generated electrical current through wiring to produce electricity. Solar panels can also be wired together to create a system, increasing the amount of solar energy collected and solar power produced. Regardless of the type of solar panel used, the ideal location of a solar power system would be installed panels on a roof – in a region with long peak sunlight hours – with the panels facing toward the south (for homes in the northern hemisphere). Energy efficiency incorporated with the design of solar power system lowers overall size and cost. Solar power system not only saves money and planet, but new reports say it also adds equity to your property. As of the second quarter of 2016 more than 1.1 million solar photovoltaic (PV) homes exist in the US. Capturing the value these PV systems add to home sales is therefore important. Our study enhances the PV-home-valuation literature by analyzing 22,822 home sales, of which 3951 have PV, and which span eight states during 2002–2013. The study also, for the first time, compare premiums with contributory value estimates derived from the present value of saved energy costs (income approach) and, separately, the replacement cost of systems at the time of sale (cost approach) to examine market signals. Study finds home buyers are consistently willing to pay PV home premiums across various states, housing and PV markets, and home types; average premiums equate to approximately $4/W or $15,000 for an average-sized 3.6-kW PV system.
